Patch or Replace? What’s Best for Your Drywall Damage
When you’re dealing with damaged drywall, the big question is: should you patch it — or replace the whole sheet?
Here’s how we decide at A Patch To Match
Patch the drywall when:
•The damage is small (under 6–8 inches)
•There’s no mold, water damage, or crumbling material
•The wall texture is smooth or easy to match
Replace the drywall when:
•The hole is large or spans multiple areas
•There’s structural damage or mold
•The drywall is old and brittle
•You’re already doing renovations or major repainting
As a general rule: if more than 70% of the drywall sheet is damaged, it’s more efficient (and often cheaper long-term) to replace the whole panel. We always evaluate each job case by case.
Whether patching or replacing, we ensure a seamless finish that looks like the damage never happened. Serving Denver, Wheat Ridge, Arvada, Lakewood, and beyond!
